Let's give a warm welcome to Winter for us in the Southern Hemisphere! The season is connected with the element of water, the colours blue and black, and two organs: the kidneys and the bladder. It is also the time of the year that is called, “Returning to the Root.”
Your daily practices will change during winter. By all means exercise, but the pillar of your Winter practices is stillness. Why is this important? Too much movement will exhaust our Qi, while too much sitting will cause stagnation in the body. We can combat this by experimenting with what your body responds well to, to find the perfect balance of movement and stillness this Winter.
As our Spirit flows through each organ system, it expresses itself in different ways. The ancient Daoist folk teach us that our greatest teacher is Nature. Sit quietly outside in her, in Nature, and observe. Is the grass damp and cool underneath? The type of greenery flourishing, the breeze (is there any?), is there a chill to the air? What about the noises of the birds, can you smell anything, the dirt? The rain? These are wonderful questions to ask, especially during the changes of season. Becoming aware of these changes in Nature, immediately connects you to something bigger. We are currently facing an epidemic of disconnection globally. At SuperFeast, we bow down to the knowledge of those before us, who so highly revered Nature and her rhythms. We can't wait to share our Winter tool-chest with you.
