The old adage of squirrels collecting nuts is the perfect image for Autumn. These 'cooling-off' months are a time of preparation, physically, emotionally and spiritually. We (and Nature) are essentially preparing for Winter and beginning our Yin descending journey.
Autumn specifically is the ideal time to prepare your Lungs. It’s also the best time to emphasise the strength of your Wei Qi (your surface immunity). To help with this, you may find participating in regular exercise that is dedicated to quality and not quantity (not excessive sweating) is helpful for maintaining a good flow of Qi energy around the body, which will help strengthen the Lungs, as well as release 'happy hormones' to keep you feeling good into the Winter. At this time we also go hard on the Qi herbs to cultivate a powerful Wei Qi so pathogens are less likely to invade the body.
