The Heart Fire as an organ system regulates the activeness and quietness of a person. In harmony (which means the Shen can be adaptively expressed) it allows the person to be serene while also being poised and active in their aspirations.
When there is a disturbance in the Heart Fire (and hence a lack of Spirit/Shen being nourished and expressed) then there is a disturbance in a person’s ability to be restful and active. Long term this will lead to the body lacking an embodiment of the Spirit.
In a Classical Chinese medicine clinical instance (which is not what we do at SuperFeast, remember tonic herbalism is about staying in harmony, rather than treating deeper dysfunctions) a practitioner will generally be looking to treat either a Heart Fire Yang or Yin deficiency.
Stabilisers will steady our emotions so that Shen may emerge with ease, while tonics will work to directly encourage a greater expression of our Spirit to “crack” through the body and express itself. In the SHEN formula you will find a carefully crafted combination of both.
