"If you want to understand Gaia, you have to learn to think in terms of nonlinear, circular logic of feedback systems." - Timothy Lenton There is no such thing as a straight line in Nature. Our education system teaches linear, but the ecology we live within is nonlinear. Likewise, much of western herbalism is linear. “Take this herb for that problem, take this formula for this symptom.” It’s great to have this element available, but before it gets to this reductionism-needing point, we want to enter into the nonlinear, circular logic feedback system that is our own body and find a way to create harmonious health that flows year in and year out with the seasons so that we can prevent illness. Spending time connecting with Nature and Gaia is a necessary way to achieve this. Oh and tonic herbs also work! Image via HIGHBROW
