It is an absolutely breathtaking drive; the road there is lined by incredible glacier and mountain views, and the little town of Stewart, which sits at the end of the Portland Canal, is definitely worth a visit. From here there is one road going into Alaska, and circling back into BC, before it reaches a dead end. Immediately
after crossing into Alaska you’ll drive through Hyder, a little ghost town, that sits on the border with BC. Further you pass the Fish Creek Wildlife Observatory, where you can often see grizzlies and black bears fishing for salmon. But the biggest reason the venture on this road, that turns into a dirt road, is the Salmon Glacier.
