This month thirdlove and kitundergarments are donating $10 for every social post in their Breast Cancer Awareness Collection to the Women’s Cancer Research Fund (WCRF), as well as 15% of the sales from their bundle kits.
Possible TW: Breast Cancer, sick parent
Back in 2015 my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. She thankfully had a minimally invasive surgery and is back to tending to all the houseplants, cooking the best chilaquiles, and crying when she laughs too hard (like the rest of the fam).
Back in Santa Cruz, I remember waking up one morning and thinking “I should call my mom” and then after taking a shower and going about my morning, noticed a voicemail from her. I don’t remember if she said it in the voicemail or if I had to call her back, but I picked up my bag and went to work. The words kept ringing in my head, breast cancer. What does this mean? What does this look like? What can I do? Fast forward, my mom goes bald and reveals she has an awesome head shape 😂 and fast forward even more, here we are. I am the daughter of my mom, the breast cancer survivor.
I am sending love to all of those who have lost someone to cancer, who have known someone with cancer, and everything in between. The word, the disease is terrifying. And I am so lucky, thankful that my mom is here with me, and my heart is with everyone else who has heard this word.
