Complete with dark accents, a touch of natural plant life, and a bold pattern thanks to the Cascais Block Tile, we just had to interview the designer @jaquelinepagan and learn more about the redesign. ⠀

What drove the redesign? ⠀
We renovated this entire building East Williamsburg brownstone and wanted the foyer to merge the building’s history with sharp lines and a bold pattern. We used the floor tile as a starting point and pulled the color palette for walls and woodwork to tie it all together.⠀

Did you hit any roadblocks?⠀
No significant roadblocks but we did tweak the design a bit going from a full black palette for the woodwork to adding the soft gray for the wainscoting at the owners request. We love how the woodwork reflect light and adds depth to the space.⠀

How did you work with the original space your client had? ⠀
We kept the original footprint but redistributed the space to allow for a larger common area and a private entrance for the upstairs apartment.⠀

When the space was redesigned, did you have a hard time choosing the backsplash? What made you choose the tile you did?⠀
We were pretty set on bold pattern and a black and white palette and debated between a mosaic and a cement look tile. We ultimately selected this tile which married a great pattern, a cement look and the perfect color palette.⠀
