What drove the reno? – The clients were purchasing a new apartment. This apartment was dated and needed a full gut renovation down to the bare bones of the apartment. When we finished demolition (and all the walls were removed) we were able to stand on one end of the apartment and look at the opposite end of the apartment without any obstruction. The bathrooms had old original tile and fixtures that was screaming to be updated. ⠀

Did you hit any roadblocks? – Yes! I worked with Steve, my rep, on choosing these tiles. When we were in the middle of installing the tiles, we realized the bullnose end of the tile was a slight shade and thickness different than the field tile. We had to change design detail to use a Schluter edge to finish the tile edges. But we made it work!⠀

How did you work with the original space your client had? – The original footprint of the bathroom stayed the same. But we gutted all the finishes and fixtures. We installed new floor and wall tiles, skim coated the walls/ceiling, installed new plumbing controls, and chose new fixtures and a beautiful custom vanity and medicine cabinet. ⠀

When the space was redesigned, did you have a hard time choosing the tile? What made you choose the one you did? – We knew we wanted to have a brighter bathroom. This bathroom was located in the middle of the apartment so there was no natural light. We knew we wanted to keep the walls bright and chose a timeless subway tile.
