What drove the redesign? ⠀
My client fell in love with these ceramic sinks shaped like Oyster shells, made by Ae Ceramics. Our inspiration for the space was to use the sink as our jumping off point and accent the room around that piece. This led us to pull a neutral, East Coast vibe into the space, while tying in some more contemporary elements like modern pendant lights, straight stack tile and clean plumbing fixtures.⠀

Did you hit any roadblocks? ⠀
We ended up finding quite a bit of plumbing running through the soffits, and some abandoned electrical in the walls. Raising those soffits was a huge priority for us to visually open up that space, so we spent quite a bit of time reworking the plumbing for the bathrooms above in order to achieve the end result. ⠀

How did you work with the original space your client had? ⠀
We left all of the rough plumbing in the original locations and kept the existing floor tile, as it continued throughout the rest of the first floor. From there, we raised the soffits, demolished the shower enclosure and removed all of the fixtures. The general layout and shape of the bathroom didn’t change at all.⠀

When the space was redesigned, did you have a hard time choosing the tile (Lancaster Open Seas 3 x 12 Polished Ceramic Tile) What made you choose the one you did?⠀

When we were hunting for a special treatment for the vanity wall, we knew we wanted something with color and an organic texture. The trick was finding a material that had personality, but that didn’t distract from the rest of the design by coming in too strong. When we came across the Lancaster Open Seas 3 x 12, we knew it was the right fit. ⠀
