Textured. Stacked. A handmade look mixed with modern shapes and modern patterns. Shades of gray. Shades of white. Classic shapes laid in new ways.
All tile trends for right now that you won’t regret in 5 years.
While there are plenty of tile trends out there, including bold colors and printed/encaustic styles, my clients tend to want to play it safe. But playing it safe doesn’t have to mean sticking to 3x6 white subway tile, staggered horizontally... not that there’s anything wrong with that!
If you’re updating your bathroom or kitchen, you can’t go wrong with anything vertical right now. Ribbon tile is big (long thin tile) or use 2x8 white tile to achieve a similar look. Stacking squares verses staggering is another big update that’s been around for a while (even in my 90’s bathroom), but it’s fully back and very on trend.
A subtle variation to white is any shade of grey or any texture that looks organic or handmade, mixed with modern elements like black hardware or brass lighting.
The biggest tip I can give? Don’t forget to warm up your whites, grays, and blacks with some wood tones and even a little green.
