Dear mom, You made it through your first year. Take a deep breathe. You did it. The best is yet to come. Those first few months were hard. Coping with a new diagnosis, learning how to be a new mom and juggle doctors appointments, therapies, insurance calls, and learning to be your son’s biggest advocate in every way possible. Making life decisions for another human is hard, but you did it, and you will keep doing it. This journey may not be the one You imagined You would be on, but I’ve learned that I am stronger than I thought, my voice has purpose, and most of all my baby boy is just like an other babe! Sure he’s been reaching his milestones at his own pace, but he reaches them. To be honest part of me loves that I’m forced to slow down and soak in every stage just a little longer. He is my best friend, my greatest struggle and my greatest joy. His smile lights up a room and his slobber kisses make my heart jump with joy. Dear mom, I know at times it’s going to be hard... but you are truly lucky to have the chance to love such a unique and incredible human with every fiber of your being. That extra chromosome just makes him extra awesome. One year down, and the rest of a lifetime to go!
