Beach clean-ups are only step #1- but are a fun and accessible way to get the conversation started around plastic pollution in your community as well as the systemic pollution created from Big Plastic & fossil fuel companies worldwide. Make sure to social distance & to practice safe & sanitary ways to pick up trash in your area. I also recommend taking the next step beyond a clean-up and arranging your own brand audit- where you actually gather data/ information about what plastic products you find during a clean up & actually hold the companies who produced that plastic in the first place accountable. breakfreefromplastic has lots of amazing resources on the specific steps to conduct a brand audit- and to even ship some of that plastic straight back to the company/ manufacturer who made it in the first place!
