Sometimes I hesitate to post things because I’m not 100% perfect at it. But trying everyday and sharing where I’m at, even if it’s not perfect yet, is much better than doing nothing.
I’ve been focused on buying more sustainable clothes, so I’ve spent time researching a company’s social and environmental impact before making a purchase. Greenwashing is pretty prevalent, so I haven’t relied on just the company’s own labels. I recently learned about the goodonyou_app which can make the research process a lot easier. If a company has already been rated on the app, it gives you a quick summary of a company’s labor, environmental and animal practices. I looked up all the companies I thought were sustainable, and was surprised to find that a few were falling short.
Besides being cute, comfortable and having pockets, this organic cotton dress is made by sustainable clothing company toadandcoclothing. I’d already done my research, and I was happy to see that toadandcoclothing is rated a 4/5 on the app because they use sustainable materials, reuse offcuts from other companies to minimize waste and partner with The Renewal Workshop to upcycle fabric or renew clothing.
