This 2018 HSV converted Camaro SS produces 339kW and 617Nm from its 6.2-litre naturally-aspirated LT1 V8, which is now complemented by the installation of an EVC Throttle Controller 😁
In addition, the V8 is matched to an eight-speed automatic and features a gratuitous bi-modal exhaust system, Brembo brakes with four-piston front calipers, unique Macpherson front struts and multi-link independent rear suspension.
There’s nothing like a V8’s rumble and lumpy idle that shakes the whole car. This is a cracker of a drivetrain; it sounds properly ferocious in Sports mode under heavy throttle thanks to its bimodal exhaust, and happily revs out to its 6500rpm redline. Indeed, it’s at its best under a heavy right foot, because peak torque arrives at 4400rpm, and now with the EVC Throttle Controller fitted, it will be reaching peak torque at a much quicker rate 😉
The LHD to RHD conversion is also very impressive, with work involving a lot of new parts modelled off engineering information and CAD data provided directly from GM. New bits include the dash support, heater box and HVAC plumbing, steering rack, complete body wiring harness and instrument panel. The seats get reworked, and even the HID headlights get pulled down and modified.
