Meet Fahmida Tapadar @jyxtii ! Vela's newest Hijabi girl! Here is her story on how she became a Hijabi. Thank you for sharing your beautiful story with us! May Allah set reward you 💙#hijabified "Hi, my name is Fahmida and I recently started wearing the hijab. People always ask me what its like and "how its treating me" and alhamdulillah for the most part it's well. Growing up, I watched a lot of girls older than me start to cover their hair and I wondered what motivated them to do so. Now that I'm older and have a better relationship with God, I understand. I'm from the UK and every hijabi knows that wearing a clear symbol of the religion you practice in the West is no joke, but the strange looks/disdain from those who don't understand our beautiful religion are NOTHING compared to the overwhelming amount of support I've been lucky to receive. At the end of the day I know that I'm wearing it to please the only one who has control of my life, and although a struggle at times, covering has made me nothing if not 50x stronger, tougher, and for that I am so thankful. I'm happy to finally be identified as Muslim, as before this many had no idea, and wearing a hijab and acting accordingly has allowed me to show people that the Islam they see in the media isn't 99.8% of it's followers' Islam. Aside from the obvious this was a major factor in my decision to cover, along with the next: the amount of people who have reached out to me and told me that me taking this step has inspired them in some way. Nothing makes me smile more than that, and it reminds me that pleasing my creator and helping people to do the same & to gain the confidence to do so - which is what Vela is doing - is definitely worth it."
