I went to the bank this morning on the way to the studio.. And as I was depositing cash, the lady looked at my card which says 'Violet Gray Design' and asked what I do. I explained that I am a Jewellery Designer and she looked at me and said 'ohhh, so you are one of the talented ones'...
She caught me off guard.. with this concept of separation and division between people? Without thinking I replied 'but as are you - we are all talented!?'
You see, in reflection I realise that so many of us at different times are searching for that one BIG talent, that purpose, that ultimate 'soul' direction... And this quest of doing only removes us from a state of being. It is in this natural state of just being you, that you can connect with your talents. Often, they are right there in front of you and seemingly simple - it might be a talent at being kind, at making people around you feel good, at making a mean pasta! A talent is a talent - whether you perceive it as small or otherwise, I see them as being of equal importance.
I shared this perspective with the lovely teller this morning. I hope that today she connects with herself and realises that she too is gifted - in more ways than realised ?
