This box.
It’s the only thing I asked for when my grandfather passed. I was living in Turkey when his estate was being shared and my sisters received it on my behalf.
Once upon a time it was full to the brim with golden trinkets and treasures and like I shared in an earlier post, every now and again he would pull it out from the dusty cupboards and allow us to look through it and choose.
I didn’t ever choose anything of monetary value - more like magnifying spectacles and a pen (kid priorities!) but this box.... it’s always felt magic to me. And still, it sits untouched with the final bits of what was left after years of it’s sharing with many.
You see... sentimentality is more meaningful than price tag. Intention more valuable than carat size. And it’s priceless when the things we love are passed through generations before us. And then after us.
This box confirms the evolving direction of Violet Gray.
