Today is Remembrance Day.
Z Special force was a joint Allied special forces unit formed during the Second World War to operate behind Japanese lines in South East Asia.
The WW2 commando raid performed by Z special force involved commandos being dropped off on Punjung Island by the small ship Krait. They then paddled folding canoes over the next 4 nights to finally place limit mines on Japanese shipping in Singapore harbour. During this paddle, the Z special force men wore Volleys as they were quick-drying and had good rubber soles allowing them to walk safely over wet rocky shores.
Let's hold a minute's silence at 11 am today to commemorate those who have fought and given their lives in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.
