WARM WATERS
Did you know that the sea water temperature in Sligo peaks from 13 to 18°C (55 to 64°F) in August. These warm waters means our seaweeds grow at a faster rate, at high nutrient concentrations, filling themselves with alginate & luxurious gels.
With the Gulf Stream and Ireland being located between 51 and 55 °N, many warm water species of seaweed / algae are at their Northern Limit and also some cold water species are at their Southern Limit.
