THE TIDES & THE MOON
Tides - the periodic rise and fall in sea levels that occur as a result of gravitational forces of the sun and moon. Due to its distance the power of the Sun’s gravity pull on the tides is much less than that of the moon despite its diameter being 400 times more than the moons. Without a moon there would still be high and low tides, however they would only be half the size compared to their lunar counterparts.
