Ophelia has passed with minimal damage luckily here in Sligo. The last powerful hurricane to hit our shores with violent force was hurricane Debbie. Debbie's path of destruction was extensive. The storm destroyed the last of the original seaweed bathing houses that stood in Strandhill Sligo in 1961, yet some of the foundations are still visible today. The Walton family rebuilt the baths in 1996. www.voya.ie
