Fob chains were originally worn to secure pocket watches, one end of the chain was attached to the watch and the other to a gentleman’s waistcoat.
They were often referred to as Albert chains after Queen Victoria’s husband, Prince Albert who was a wearer of the fashion. As pocket watch popularity declined, fob chains began to be worn as bracelets and necklaces.
