“When I first started working with W&H in the 1980s there was a lot of demand for a soft blue shade of sapphire, often in the form of large three stones or clusters of diamonds centred around a large oval Ceylonese sapphire. I am sure in some ways customers were inspired by Princess Diana‘s engagement ring, these were indeed hot selling items. I discovered later that internationally the preference was in a much richer darker shade of blue however I have never lost my appreciation for the lighter Ceylonese colour. This Pentagon ring reminded me of those days and the enduring appeal of the cornflower shade of sapphire. I also love the shared V claw of our classic design allowing for a seamless panorama of gemstones across the finger.”- Joseph Tattersfield #CuratedByJosephTattersfield
