Scientific diving students from @umiami_scientific_diving conducting coral reef surveys as part of their field training. Learning skills in a pool is one thing, but being able to apply them consistently in the ocean requires first hand experience. This kind of surveying is particularly challenging because the team must work together to measure the reef without damaging the coral, record accurate measurements, and communicate procedures with one another through hand signals.... all while maintaining perfect bouyancy and orientation in the constantly shifting current!
