I’m not a photographer who makes things look effortless and easy. Case in point - my assistant and the groomsmen moved this arch to this spot because the backlighting was amazing. There’s a temptation on a wedding day to say “well this will do” or “this photo spot isn’t the best but it’s hot/cold/windy/time is short” - but I think we have to fight through that as photographers. Don’t settle for fine or good enough or “it is what it is.” I know it’s hard because you don’t want to make a scene with a ladder or sandbags or big lights or moving a group or ticking off a coordinator or annoying anyone. You can’t please everyone - your goal is pleasing your couple. Make a spectacle of yourself - you don’t know these people and you’re there to work and deliver amazing images - not to look cute or just take up zero space. There are times when we blend in, sure. There are also times to step up and stand out. Go the extra mile. You’ll always be too much for some people and those aren’t your people. 😂
