I finally started to gain some ground and got myself to the summit.
I had downsized my tripod and bought something more suitable for my 35L pack. But I wanted to maintain a realistic weight to prepare for the future overnighters the valley has to offer. I decided to pack a few pieces of "warm" clothing not expecting to use them at all. I'm glad I brought them.
Within 15mins and 200m down at the base of the ridge, I had changed from leggings and shorts to just shorts. Then shorts and gaiters. And finally, full pants with gaiters. The weather was full alpine; changing every 10mins from fast moving winds to sun to showers.
Here I am. At the summit. I thought I had the shot but then the rain started to pour again. My camera caught me trying to save it. So we huddled under a tree, cracked open the trail mix, and decided to wait it out.
