How to start a fire using a headlamp.
Here's a behind the scenes story of #WoodsExplorer Survival Challenge. Here I am explaining how I used science to stay warm.
When I was placed in my survival situation I was given a few tools and some food such as matches with no striker, a bic lighter with no fluid and two eggs. Well, one of my eggs broke on my matches ruining them so I was forced improvise. I removed the lithium ion battery from my headlamp (much like a cellphone battery). The reason? When you expose the batteries to oxygen it creates a highly flammable gas.
So I took a rock, bashed a hole in it and then used my Bic light to spark a flame. It gave off a 12 inch flame I used to start my fire.
I do not recommend trying this at home.
