re: my previous post ✨woke up self-employed✨
_starting my social media marketing business has been in the works for more than a year now. in january 2020, i quit my 9-5 and by march, i was ready to start but couldn’t have picked a worse time because, well, we all know how unpredictable the world got that month.
_there’s this meme where a dog with a little hat is sitting in a house and the house is on fire - that’s what i felt like most of the time.
_however, i was wayyy more determined than i was scared and i had many reasons for starting my own business anyway. i craved flexibility, creative freedom, being able to choose clients and control my workload, saying no, saying yes, being my own boss, and the possibility of earning an income that i am satisfied with.
_gradually i figured i was searching for the type of clients i used to have and not companies i actually wanted to work with. it took longer than it should’ve to get out of my comfort zone and realize that i’ll never have something that i don’t go for and that it makes zero sense to stay local when in fact everything i do is digital.
_so here I am now — working with clients from the other side of the world with missions and projects i totally love. i know that this is a milestone and not the end result but i decided to celebrate it nonetheless, because i worked freaking hard for it and i’m so proud now that it’s happening.
—let’s chat, are you self-employed? working a 9-5? tell me about what you do in the comments ✨
