HELLSTRIPS - The front yard square footage that’s often overlooked. What is a hellstrip? The space between the sidewalk and street that, in most municipalities, is the homeowner’s property. A hellstrip represents an amazing opportunity to make an impact— plant trees (many cities have programs), add pollinators, create privacy, beautify your neighborhood, build a community library, or even add raised beds for gardening.
In this beautiful Yardzen yard, we love how the homeowners mirrored the low-water, pollinator-loving plants of their front yard in their hellstrip, creating some privacy from the street, beautifying the neighborhood, and supporting habitat.
