Army Sgt. John W. Young from 4/47 9th ID summarizing war to students after having survived a deadly ambush in Vietnam June 19, 1967; which took the lives of 49 men.
Young lost half of his platoon in a span of 2 weeks and when his tour was over, he was one of just 30 of the original men who were left standing.
After dealing with war protestors, nightmares and haunting memories, he decided to share his experiences to the younger generation. In 2002, he went back to Vietnam and on the same ambush site , he made amends with some of his former enemies.
