On a personal note, I've been traveling around the globe for the better part of the last 6 months. Today, hiking through some mountains, I stumbled across some really well preserved WW1 trenches on the Swiss/Italian border.
Bunkers, MG nests, Observation posts, First Aid Stations and underground tunnels built into the face of the mountain were some of the things that really put the type of warfare ideology into perspective.
