On February 19, 1945 the B-29 named "Holy Joe" from the 881st, 500th BG was hit by AA fire over Tokyo during a bombing run.
With heavy body damage and with 2 engines destroyed on the same wing, Capt. James Pearson flew his plane back to Saipan and upon landing, one of the propellers spun off, cutting the entire front of the fuselage off.
No crew member was injured. Just another example of balls and American made aircraft.
