On March 18, 1944, Finnish soldier Aimo Koivunen became separated from his 3 man unit after the Russians ambushed them during a ski patrol near Murmansk.
He escaped into the wild and with the enemy on his tail, he decided to make use of Pervitin, an amphetamine issued by the Army to help soldiers stay awake for extended periods of time.
The only difference is that he took the entire bottle of 30 pills in one go.
He felt a short burst of energy and then fell into delirium and unconsciousness several times.
In the 2 weeks that followed, unbeknownst to him, he skied over 250 miles, slept in below freezing temperatures unsheltered, was wounded by a land mine, survived by only eating a raw bird and pine buds, and when he made it to the hospital his heart beat was still at 200 BPM while weighing only 94lbs.
