TIGERLAND 💀💀💀 out of 5.
Wouldn't categorize it under War movie, but maybe war drama. It essentially focuses on a platoon of Army grunts doing their last bit of training in Louisiana 1971 before shipping out to Vietnam.
The film captures the nature and unique characters of all the main individuals, from the ones trying to their job, to scared, psychotic and unruly. No great lines or anything, but it tries to describe the men from a deeper level. Great cast, Ferrel in the lead along with many others you've seen before.
Fairly accurate setting, gear, some parts of training, based on vets who were really there. Cant speak on the overall attitude and insubordination, but some scenes and dialogue will remind you of what it felt like knowing that you were headed in the shit.
Cole Hauser plays the seasoned vet who just got back from Nam, and imo a great character. Hes like the Sgt Barnes before Platoon. He puts some reality and wisdom into all of them.
