For some of us, everyday is Memorial Day...carrying on a legacy, reflecting on the price, cherishing what others missed doesn't translate into drowning in booze, pills, sorrow and guilt. None of which have ever helped a soul or brought back one to life..and it sure as shit doesn't change the past.
So, where does that leave us? Life isn't fair, war isn't pretty, peace isn't everlasting. Understand that in some situations, you don't have a choice, you don't predict the outcome. But If somehow you do survive, you now have an obligation to make a choice on how you live your life. Surviving often translates to a second chance, why waste it?
Many believe that Memorial Day weekend shouldn't be about BBQs, living it up and enjoying life...its exactly what it should be. Don't let anyone ever guilt you out of it.
Many believe that freedom is just that..free. It's not. A heavy price was paid and continues to be paid in full. It's clearly visible at any VA, any cemetery, any small plot of dirt in a foreign land or unknown location at sea. Liberty is not a right, it's a privilege..just like it's a privilege to those who give up their lives for it. You don't have to believe in the wars, the politics or even the reasoning behind them, but reflecting on the price will make you appreciate what we take for granted every day.
On a side note, there won't be any sales, discounts or handouts and the store will be closed on the 27th, resuming operations the following day. If it bothers you or if you need gear that bad, go do business somewhere else. If you have a need to spend money, get a hooker.
Gents, at the end of the day, the meaning of Memorial Day shouldn't just apply to a weekend, it should apply to the rest of your days with the constant understanding that you have a choice and have the privilege of living life.
