When it comes to balls and no fucks, this guy fits the profile. The name is Ted Roosevelt Jr, that's right, President Roosevelt's son.
.
At the outbreak of WW1, Ted volunteered to be one of the first soldiers to go to France. As a Lt.Col, he commanded the 26th Regiment, First Div and fought in several major battles. So concerned was he for his men's welfare that he purchased combat boots for the entire battalion with his own money.
.
He was gassed and wounded at Soissons in 1918. Ted received the Distinguished Service Cross for his actions during the war.
At the end of the Great War, Roosevelt took his skills into politics, serving in various positions.
At the outbreak of WW2, Roosevelt took up arms once again, taking charge of the same unit he commanded during WW1, this time as a Brig. Gen.
Upon his arrival in North Africa, he led his men in Algeria and throughout most of the North African Campaign. He became known as a general who often visited the front lines. He had always preferred the heat of the battle to the comfort of the command post.
.
On June 6, 1944, during the Normandy landings, Roosevelt, along with a cane, arthritis, a heart condition, and no fucks, was the only general on D-Day to land by sea with the first wave of troops on Utah beach. At the age of 56, he was the oldest man in the invasion and the only man to serve with his son on D-Day (Captain Quentin Roosevelt II was among the first wave of soldiers to land at Omaha beach)
.
He repeatedly led groups from the beach, over the seawall and established them inland. His valor, courage, and presence in the very front of the attack and his complete unconcern at being under heavy fire inspired the troops to heights of enthusiasm and self-sacrifice.
.
For his actions, leadership, and overall non fuckery, Brig. Gen. Roosevelt was awarded the Medal of Honor.
On July 12, 1944, a little over one month after the landing at Utah Beach, Roosevelt died of a heart attack near Sainte-Mère-Église. He is buried at the American Cemetery in Normandy, alongside his brother Quentin, who was killed during WW1. #leadership #hardfuck
