British Highlander Alistair Urquhart was drafted in the British Army in 1939 at the age of 19. He fought in the Battle of Singapore and was captured by the Japanese. As a POW, he was sent to work on the Burma Railway aka Death railway (285 miles) which took the lives of more than 100,000 people during its construction. After surviving years of cholera, malnutrition and torture, he was boarded on a captured American cargo ship bound for Japan. That ship was torpedoed by a US submarine. The ship went down and he was the sole survivor despite having been completely burned and having ingested motor oil. Floating in the ocean for 5 days with no food or water, he was captured once again by the enemy. He was then sent to a labor camp in Nagasaki and survived the atomic bomb. He passed away at the age of 97 in 2016. Hardfuck approved #noluckallskills
