On this day 12 years ago, the world lost 3 great men, who sacrificed their lives to rescue a Marine in my squad after he was shot on a rooftop; in place which was once considered the deadliest city in the world. The way the events and instances unfolded are not easy to describe, but the sheer strength and courage displayed by these 3 Marines on that faithful day, will always resonate throughout time.
