Schwerer Gustav, the largest-calibre rifled weapon ever used in combat.
It fired the heaviest shells of any artillery piece. With it's 106 ft. barrell, Gustav could send it's 800mm 7 ton shell over 29 miles. In terms of overall weight, 1350 Ton, it was the heaviest mobile artillery piece ever built.
It took 250 men to operate the weapon with a rate of fire of 1 shell every 45 minutes.
The gun was designed in preparation for the Battle of France, in order to destroy the Maginot Line, but was sent to the eastern front. Only 2 of these railguns were fully built, both were destroyed at the end of the war. #heavyrain #ww2 #artyparty #stayzero #zerofoxtrot
