On September 21, 1967, during a reconnaissance mission near Con Thien, Vietnam, Lcpl. Jedh Colby Barker, from New Hampshire, and the men of Fox Co. 2/4 were suddenly ambushed by accurate sniper fire. As the Marines tried to figure out the sniper's position, they were attacked by small arms and heavy machine gun fire. In the midst of the battle, Lcpl. Barker began suppressing the enemy until he was hit by small arms fire. Despite the wounds, he continued to lay waste to the enemy with his machinegun until he was struck again in the right hand. At the same moment, Colby noticed an enemy hand grenade which landed among a group of Marines. With no hesitation, he jumped on the grenade and absorbed the full explosion. Still alive, he used his very last ounce of strength to crawl over towards another wounded Marine and began administering first aid until succumbing to his wounds. For his actions, Lcpl. Barker was awarded the Medal of Honor. #hardcore #stayzero #vietnamwar #badass
