Navy SEAL Master Chief Jim Kauber flew over the Persian Gulf, at night, strapped to the outside of an Army OH-58 helicopter in order to take out Iranian gunboats and mine layers in the late 1980s, armed with an M16 and an M845 Night Scope. These clandestine night raids fell under the project "Earnest Will" and as one member described them "We basically flew around at night at low level, shooting up Iranian gunboats and partying in Abu Dhabi."
