Today we wanted to give you a little insight on this hard fuck; Simo Häyhä; nicknamed “White Death” and rightfully so. Simo was a sniper in the Finnish Army who fought against the Russians during the Winter War (1939-1940). Armed only with a Mosin Nagant, using only iron sights (no scope for you civilians out there) in temperatures below -40 F, he managed to rack up 505 kills in a span of 100 days; roughly 5 kills per day. Setting the highest recorded number of confirmed sniper kills in any major war to this day. [I’ll leave out the fact that he also killed 105 more with an SMG.] The Russians attempted to kill him on many occasions, to include counter sniping, artillery strikes and carpet bombing the area; which failed miserably. Simo was finally shot in the face with an exploding round, which took out his left side of the jaw. Remarkably, he survived and lived to be 96 years old.
Besides being awarded numerous awards, he is also the only soldier in Finland’s military history to raise through the ranks so quickly (Corporal – Second Lt.) When asked on how he had become such a good shooter, he simply replied “Practice”…and he had lots of it with no fucks to give.
