The date is April 11, 1966. Location: Xa Cam, Vietnam. The mission: to send 134 men of C.Co. 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division to seek and destroy 400+ NVA. Among the men of C.Co, there was Sgt. James W. Robinson.
Prior to Vietnam Sgt. Robinson was a U.S. Marine, enlisting in 1958, discharged in 1961, and re-enlisting in the Army in 1964.
Fast forwarding to 1966, the mission itself turned into a disaster when the US soldiers were ambushed, surrounded and even hit by their own artillery. At this point, with no fucks to spare, Sgt. Robinson began running around the battlefield killing snipers with a grenade launcher, rescuing wounded medics and soldiers. In doing so, he was himself wounded in the shoulder and leg. He then made a lone man charge against a machine gun position, under intense enemy fire, and using two grenades, he eliminated the position. Sgt. Robinson then made another lone man charge against another enemy machine gun position. He was shot in the leg (again), except this time a tracer ignited his pants. He tore off the burning garment and continued to advance toward the Vietnamese machine-gunner. He was shot twice more in the chest but managed to hurl his explosives, destroying the machine gun position and saving dozens of lives before succumbing to his wounds.
Robinson is listed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on panel 06E, row 103 and became the first Virginia resident to receive the Medal of Honor during the Vietnam War. #zerofucks #nofucks #stayzero #hero #badass
