The story behind this St. Michael pendant is something that, to this day, I cherish and hold dearly. While in Iraq, after saying the last goodbyes to three Marines who were killed on the same day, I walked out of the tent and I just happened to look down on the gravel and noticed something shining...and found this. I placed it in my pocket and kept it ever since; on each mission, each fight. Never was much of a religious person, but somehow I felt that this was a sign from a higher power. Needless to say, on top of having the best guys protecting you in the deadliest places and worst times of the conflict, somehow I felt that something or someone was looking out for me as well. There are certain things and situations in war that can only be explained through faith, with no logic or reasoning. Times where some of us ask, how in the world am I still here?. If you are, it's because you have had a second chance in life and are tasked to do something bigger. For those who departed us too soon, your mission is something that it can only be described as much greater than ourselves.
