He used to be a 21 year old GI Joe. Near invincible, courageous, honorable, and tenacious. He led young warriors into battle against a great enemy. He and his generation were the sheepdogs of their time. The killers that kept the people at home safe by trading their youth for a rifle, uniform, and a mission: to protect our way of life and bring utter and sudden destruction on the enemy.
He's now 95. He walks with a cane and has a slightly slower stride than in his prime. However, he still holds his head high. He walks tall and straight. He has the spark of youth and passion in his eyes that I've seen from very little of my generation. This man lives a life of purpose, duty, and integrity.
