The good days, even though Ramadi wasn't a pleasant place to say the least over 10 years ago. The days when borrowed beat up armored hummvees were a luxury and somewhat safer than the no armored high backs we used in Fallujah a year prior. When a turret was simply an exposed Marine with a saw or m16 leaning on a roof of a high back with doors that had to be latched with 550 cord (suicide doors was the proper term). The days when you literally took off your side sappis and handed them over to the unit replacing you because there weren't enough to go around. The days when you strapped bullet proof windshields on your pack just so you could place them on some rooftop and watch the streets without getting your dome shot off. Technology has come a long way, but the old days are still the good days indeed. #stayzero #gruntlife #zerofoxtrot
