There are times in war when certain events happen, but there is no logical reasoning behind them. Some try to explain it via luck, religion, but most don't really think about them until long after it happened. When you to try to make sense using an after war mentality, it tends to fuck up alot of vets, because the perspective of an event in a war zone, it's the complete opposite of how we perceive it when you're back home trying to readjust. For example, some events really didn't hit me until years later, and just changing the perspective or approach of it, really placed me in an awkward position, but then I realized that I don't give a fuck, so I moved on. Sitting there thinking on the what if, could've, should've, will send you in a spiral. The only thing you can do is just accept it and move on. No one can go back and change the past, and you can't sit there and try to figure out why someone gets blown up behind you and you don't, or wondering how many times you were in the sights of someone else without even knowing it.
