Eleven years go today, U.S. Marines and coalition forces kicked off Operation Phantom Fury in order to retake the city of Fallujah from insurgent control. Despite the first attempt in April that was cut short due to political correctness, the Marines went in and engaged the enemy face on, hunting them down in the deadliest house to house battle since Hue City in 1968. Despite suffering heavy casualties, they prevailed and accomplished the mission.
