On this day, 9 years ago, we were conducting a night operation in the heart of Ramadi. As we crossed a traffic circle, a massive IED detonated and took the life of Lcpl. Ryan T. McCaughn. Many of us had crossed that same traffic circle only a few minutes before with no incident. Despite the loss, we kept going with the mission, which in itself turned out to be even more of a cluster fuck as any of us could have imagined. Gone too soon, missed by all, never forgotten.
