In 1944, Col. Bruce W. Carr's Mustang, nicknamed Angles Playmate, was shot down over Czechoslovakia by German anti-aircraft fire. He managed to bail out of his aircraft and now found himself alone, lost and behind enemy lines. He hid in the forest, evaded capture for several days, until he stumbled upon a German airfield. He noticed a ground crew working on an German Fw-190 and a fuel truck refueling the aircraft. So, he did a quick check to make sure all his fucks were gone, waited a few hours, and snicked into the airplane; spending the remainder of the night all hunkered down in the cockpit.
As dawn approached, Carr tried his best to learn all the gauges and instrumental panels, figuring a plane is a plane whether its American or not. Next thing you know, Carr is taxing down a German airfield, flying a German fighter. He took off and managed to get back to his airfield, despite having the entire Allied AA trying to shoot him down. Carr is officially known as the only pilot who left on a mission flying a Mustang and returning flying a Focke-Wulf.
Carr continued his military career in the Air Force, serving the reminder of WW2, well into Korea and Vietnam, until his retirement. Col.
